The First Aid Unit based at the new Chipping Norton War Memorial Hospital will continued for a few more months – but the NHS says that for the service to be successful, it needs to be sustainable financially. Although numbers have increased since its launch last April, there hasn’t yet been enough use to keep the unit open permanently.
The Unit is currently open Monday to Friday 5-9pm, and weekends and Bank Holidays between 10am and 9pm. It is staffed by an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) from the local ambulance service, who can assess and treat simple injuries and minor illness.
The ECP is also available during opening hours to respond to 999 calls around the town, but when the unit is closed, you should contact your GP or ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
