Births suspended at Chippy hospital

It was announced tonight that all births have been suspended at Chipping Norton hospital’s maternity unit, due to unspecified concerns raised by both staff and unit users.

The Oxford Times reports that a review will be carried out by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, which is likely to take around three months.

Antenatal support and other services will continue to take place at the unit during the day, but women will have to go elsewhere – such as the Horton in Banbury or Oxford’s JR hospital – to give birth.

The reasons for the suspension are not being made public.
