Hilary wins for the Conservatives

It was announced in the last half hour by Oxfordshire County Council that Hilary Biles has kept her council seat for Chipping Norton, following yesterday’s local elections – but the turnout was just 29%.

The breakdown of votes were as follows:

Hilary Biles (Conservative) – 1447 votes (49% of the vote)

Geoff Saul (Labour & Co-operative) – 911 votes (31% of the vote)

James Stanley (UKIP) – 383 votes (13% of the vote)

Paul Creighton (Green) – 132 votes (4% of the vote)

Andrew Crick (Lib Dem) – 77 votes (3% of the vote)

2950 people turned out to vote out of an electorate of 8030. There were 7 rejected ballot papers.
