West Oxfordshire District Council has issued a statement following the death of Councillor Rob Evans.
The Council said:
“West Oxfordshire District Council is saddened to hear of the death of Councillor Rob Evans. Councillor Evans was elected as a Labour party councillor on 3 May 2012 representing the Chipping Norton ward.
“During his time he served on a number of committees including Planning (Development Control and Uplands Area), Finance and Management Overview and Scrutiny, Audit and General Purposes, Urgency and the Standards sub-committee.
“He was well-known locally and had also served as a member of Oxfordshire County Council between 1997 and 2005 and on Chipping Norton Town Council from 1983 until he stepped down in 2011.
“Paying tribute on behalf of staff and councillors, Councillor Derek Cotterill, Chairman of West Oxfordshire District Council, said:
‘Rob was extremely dedicated to representing the people of Chipping Norton and did a lot of good work on behalf of the town, where he was highly respected by all.
‘He was a much-liked colleague and we are very sad to hear the news of his death. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.'”
