Public exhibition on Penhurst plans

imageSavills, the agents appointed by Action for Children to develop the Penhurst School site, are to hold a public exhibition on development plans.

It is proposed that the site on New Street, which has been empty for a year since the school closed down, will form a 60-65 bed care home and up to 45 assisted living flats and cottages.

As we reported in the April edition of Chippy News, a new terrace of two and three storey properties are also planned facing onto New Street recreation ground. The two main Victorian buildings – John Dory House and Monks Dene – would be kept and converted.

The Penhurst Liaison Group has asked us to publicise the exhibition, and so here are the full details:

A formal planning application is expected by the summer.
