Chastleton House, the Jacobean house just outside Chippy, is currently closed while filming takes place for a BBC adaptation of Hilary Mantel‘s bestselling book Wolf Hall.

The house – together with its gardens – is one of several sites being used as a location for the book, a work of historical fiction based on the life of Thomas Cromwell. The book won Mantel the 2009 Man Booker prize for fiction, and has also become a highly successful RSC play.

The BBC’s six-part series stars Homeland actor Damien Lewis, and will be shown on our screens in 2015.

Chastleton will reopen on Thursday 7 August; for more information, see the National Trust website.
