The Banbury Road has apparently been closed following a serious accident involving a lorry and a car.
BBC Oxford is reporting that traffic is queuing in both directions between the Albion Street junction and the Over Norton Road. However, a local resident who was on scene shortly after the accident, shortly before 3pm, told us that the accident happened just before the roundabout by the Shell garage.
He said that after the garden centre, and just before the roundabout, he saw an articulated lorry and various emergency vehicles, including a fire engine, already on scene. Although the accident had very recently happened, the road was already blocked at the top, with cars having to turn round and come back down the road.
At 3.30, it was reported that an air ambulance was now on the scene.
Update: It is now being reported that the driver of the car involved has sadly died.
