Chippy’s WHSmith store burgled: police appeal for witnesses

WHSmith on Topside was burgled in the early hours of 22 January, it emerged today.

Thames Valley Police appealed for witnesses today, following the burglary, which took place at 3.10am last Thursday.

It says that four offenders, wearing masks, forced open the front door of the shop and stole cigarettes.

They then drove off in a car which was waiting outside the store. Police believe it was a Subaru Legacy, or similar looking car.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting in a suspicious manner in or around either WHSmith or Sainsbury’s on the other side of the road, the day before the burglary (Wednesday 21 January).

They would also like to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the actual burglary.

The burglary follows a similar incident at Sainsbury’s on 18 August lat year, where cigarettes were again targeted by thieves who forced entry through the front doors of the store shortly before 2am.
