Making Shakespeare accessible for all at Chippy’s Theatre

kingjohn_A5_frA new adaptation of Shakespeare’s King John is coming to Chippy’s Theatre on 14 March.

This is a rare chance to see a stage performance of one of the bard’s lesser known plays – but it is also a bit different.

The aim of the theatre company, Hammerpuzzle, is to make classic texts accessible for all, and to engage local communities with theatre and the arts.

Therefore, they have incorporated originally composed live music, puppetry, ensemble acting and storytelling to make this new version of the play a bit more exciting.

Hammerpuzzle received Arts Council funding to tour the south-west with King John, following a commission from Theatre Royal Bath for the Shakespeare Unplugged Festival 2014.

Chippy is the last stop on the tour, which takes in Bath, Cheltenham, Frome and Taunton before hitting Oxfordshire.

It will be performed at The Theatre in Chipping Norton at 7.45pm on Saturday 14 March – tickets are available from the box office.
