19:15, Upper Town Hall, Monday 20th May
A newly elected Chipping Norton Town Council – somewhat changed with 6 new members out of 16 – meets for the first time at 7:15pm in the main Town Hall on Monday 20th May. The public are welcome and it’s a chance to see some of the ‘robes and ritual’ of our historic past – when the Town proudly ran many of its own affairs, rather than defering to District and County.
This first monthly meeting of the Council’s year is special as it includes the traditional Mayormaking ceremony, to elect and ‘swear in’ a new Mayor. Then it will be down to business with the Town Council representing the town in times of change, running some of our important town services.
Why not come along – take your seat by 7:05pm please – and see democracy in action?
