Summer fun and festivals!

Did you buy your Chippy News summer edition?

If not, don’t worry, it’s still on sale around town. And it has a great centre spread of things to do this summer; events big and small.

There’s still plenty of fetes and festivals to catch throughout August – festivals first, fetes lower down – lots of excuses to get out and about!

BBC Countryfile Live – Thurs-Sun 1-4 August, Blenheim Palace.
Family fun day out. Wildlife zone, ice cream parlour. Shires & Shetlands. Meet favourite presenters & TV chefs. Waterside activities. Adults £26.40/£13.20 child.

Wilderness – Thurs-Sun 1-4 August, Cornbury Park.
Multi-genre music festival set amongst rich forests, lakes and parklands. Escapism, creative freedom and flourishing cultures – plus debates, theatre, arts, comedy, dance, & boutiques.

Fairport’s Cropredy Convention – Thurs-Sat 8-10th August.
Three-day open-air festival of rock, pop and folk includes host band Fairport Convention and many more acts. Three market areas, catering, craft and clothing stalls. Large camping area.

The Big Feastival – Fri-Sun 23-25th August, Alex James’ Farm, Kingham.
A feel-good festival of food and music for all the family. Headliners: Rudimental’s DJ set, Jess Glynne, Elbow, Lewis Capaldi. Top chefs. Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park, vintage funfair. Camping and glamping village.

South Newington Flower & Produce Show
Sat 10 August 1.30pm with village fete. Marquee, Silver Band, Fun Dog Show, children’s fancy dress

Enstone Show
Sat 10 August 1– 5pm, at Sports & Social Club, opened by Graeme Garden. Dog show, crafts, Heythrop Zoo, Archery, bouncy castle, rides, skittles and more.

Shipton-Under-Wychwood Village Fair
Mon 26 August 12noon-4pm New Beaconsfield Hall. Game, Whiskey, stalls, Fun Dog Show (waggiest tail etc), Falconry, Witney Town Band, go-karts, penny arcade

Whichford & Ascott Flower Show & Fete
Mon 26 August 1.30-5pm village green. Flower & craft show, vintage plane flypast, live music, Fun dogs, children’s games, Birds of prey & owls.

Wychwood Forest Fair
Sun 1 Sept 11am-5pm. Little Park, Cornbury. Wychwood Project main event. Wychwood Barn Owl and Flora groups, rural crafts, children’s fun fair, Morris dancing, beer tent. See

The summer News has much more – open gardens, bus trips, the Lido, Town History Trail, what’s on at The Theatre and much more.
