GP Surgery: changes to Urgent Care

Access arrangements are changing

The following comes from the GP Partners at Chipping Norton Health Centre and is reproduced on page 2 of the September edition:

From Monday 7 October we are launching our URGENT CARE HUB. The hub will be staffed by Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), supported by our team of GPs. The ACPs are senior nurses or paramedics who are full prescribers and specialise in same day, acute medical conditions.

We have evaluated patient feedback and by making this change of service we will be able to offer more GP appointments, and also avoid the long waits for patients to see a clinician in the walk-in clinic.

You can book an ‘on the day’ appointment at the URGENT CARE HUB by calling the Health Centre main line: 01608 642742 (8.30-11am). The current walk-in clinic will be replaced by our URGENT CARE HUB, and therefore we will not be accepting walk-in patients.

We are working closely with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) and other communication channels to ensure that everyone is fully aware of this change – for further details please see our website at or, come to the Health Centre and pick up a leaflet which will fully explain the change.
