The Setha Group proposes to convert and extend the building to create a 31-bedroomed hotel were displayed at a public exhibition in the banking hall on 10th October. This will involve a restaurant, open to the public, in the glass-domed banking hall, meeting rooms and two wings of single-storey bedroom accommodation in landscaped gardens. The developers say that their £7m investment aims to create a 4-star boutique luxury hotel.

The proposals are at the pre-planning stage, meaning plans have not yet been submitted to the district council.
