“Boutique hotel” plans for HSBC building – comments by 25th Oct

At last, new plans have been unveiled for the former HSBC building in Market Place.

The Setha Group proposes to convert and extend the building to create a 31-bedroomed hotel were displayed at a public exhibition in the banking hall on 10th October. This will involve a restaurant, open to the public, in the glass-domed banking hall, meeting rooms and two wings of single-storey bedroom accommodation in landscaped gardens. The developers say that their £7m investment aims to create a 4-star boutique luxury hotel.

The proposals are at the pre-planning stage, meaning plans have not yet been submitted to the district council.
